MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Kiai Ahmad Dahlan and Kiai Hasyim Asy’ari were syuhada’a ala an-Naasi figures who promoted peaceful and good Islam.
President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir mentioned that they were well-known for their peace and justice. They both were friends and always thought of the development of this nation and the people.
“Thus, moderation in religion may not encourage people to be just, feel sufficient, and be good but have to become syuhada’a ala an-naasi including criticizing when religion is misunderstood and we or people make a mistake,” Haedar said at the public lecture at Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda on Monday (29/8).
“We may not remain silent when seeing the state, nation, and people make a mistake because it will bring huge impacts. We have to remember the two figures. Remember 1965 and 1998 that we saw none of the government was entirely great, and we knew that a corrupt government existed. Therefore, ama ma’ruf nahi munkar and moderation in religion is essential,” Haedar said.
